Lehighton Family Medicine
Dr Kenneth Sharp is originally from Woodbury, NJ. After high school, he moved to Florida and
studied music. He was very active as a musician on the Sun Coast of Florida (in the Clearwater
area). Playing folk and classical guitar, flute and alto flute, and singing, he played many
different genres of music - from traditional folk music to contemporary jazz.
At age 31, he relocated to his home state of New Jersey and studied Biological Sciences at
Rutgers University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993. From college, he
went on to study medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School
of Osteopathic Medicine with an emphasis on primary and emergency care.

After medical school, Dr Sharp completed his Family Medicine Residency and was Chief Resident in Family Medicine at
York Hospital in York, Pa (which held the designation as one of the Top 100 Hospitals in the United States). He is Board
Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
After residency, Dr Sharp moved to Carbon County where he has been an active member of the medical community at Blue
Mountain Health System, providing inpatient and outpatient medicine, as well as giving educational lectures on several
medically related topics. In 2008, he founded Lehighton Family Medicine, a unique practice in Family Medicine, to help
provide primary care for the residents of Carbon and the surrounding counties.
Dr Sharp's desire is to reside in the same area where he practices medicine. He is very active in several local and civic
organizations and recreational activities. He continues to play guitar and flute in the Praise & Worship Band at Blue
Mountain Community Church in Palmerton.
